Juicing is probably one of the most beneficial things to do with fruits and vegetables. You’re probably oversaturated with information about why juicing is incredible for you, but what about the pulp? With all that delicious juice comes a lot of leftover pulp which can be a pain to manage, so we’ve got you covered! Keep reading for more information on how you can repurpose your juice pulp in meaningful ways.
1. Veggie Burgers

Whether you’ve been on a health kick or simply want to reduce your meat intake, veggie burgers can be a delicious alternative to the typical cheeseburger. To make some amazing veggie burger patties, all you have to do is mix your leftover juice pulp with cooked beans or chickpeas, flour, sunflower seeds and some seasoning! Mix it all together (in a food processor, ideally), form hamburger patties and voila! You’ve got yourself some tasty veggie burgers and less pulp to be wasted.
2. Salad
What goes great with the pulp-turned-veggie-burgers you just made? Some pulp-turned-salad of course! This works especially well when using carrot pulp due to its not-too-wet, not-too-dry texture. As simple as the veggie burgers were, all you’ve gotta do is add your carrot pulp into a mixing bowl with some lime/lemon juice, salt, herbs, and black pepper. You can either enjoy this as its own meal or use it as a garnish.
3. Baked Goods

Though it may sound ironic to add juice pulp to your baked goods for moisture, that’s exactly what it does. Your favourite recipes can be that much more moist thanks to leftover juice pulp! This might even allow you to use less butter or oil in some cases, making it an overall healthier alternative to traditional baking recipes.
4. Reencle It
Reencle is an indoor compost machine that repurposes leftovers into nutrient-rich compost. If you get tired of turning your pulp into the many different recipes available, you can swap it out for some delicious compost for your soil instead! You can juice as much as you want while being worry-free since Reencle will do all the work for you while being noise-free and odourless. All you have to do is wait 2-24 hours for Reencle to be done and use your compost as you’d like!
While it might be hard to believe, Reencle is able to perform at such an efficient rate while producing real high-quality compost thanks to its patented ReencleMicrobe™. Through a process of decomposition and fermentation, Reencle doesn't only compost your juice pulp but also takes up to 1kg of other food wastes.
Indoor composting in general might seem mystifying, so we've written a Guide To Indoor Composting for you! If you'd like to know more about how Reencle operates, here is a complete Introduction to Reencle where you can read about its ability to operate without sounds or unpleasant smells, how ReencleMicrobe™ works.
5. Pet Treats

You’re not the only one who can enjoy pulp in its many different new forms! Make delicious, high-fibre treats for your furry friend using juice pulp. A simple recipe you can use is:
- 2 cups of juice pulp*
- ⅓ cup natural peanut butter
- ¼ cup ground flax
- ¾ to 1 ½ cups gluten-free rolled oats
Simply preheat your oven to 135 celsius, and then mix all your ingredients together. Pour in the rolled oats until a nice batter consistency is achieved. Form treat shapes using the mixture, and place on a baking sheet. Cook for 50-60 minutes and you should have some yummy treats for your pet!
*If your furry friend is a dog, the pulp we recommend using are carrots, kale, cucumbers, seedless apples, lettuce, celery, spinach, pears and melons. Try to stay away from citrus fruits, onions, grapes and apple seeds as they can be poisonous for dogs.
As we always say, practicing more sustainable habits shouldn't have any off days. For everything we consume and do, there's almost always a sustainable way to manage it without increasing our carbon footprint and harming the environment. It's up to us to do better for our planet and the future generation.
